Description
South Hill House is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from heavily mortared stone rubble and features a steeply pitched bitumenized slate roof. The house has tall stone rubble stacks at both gable ends, with the left end stack having offsets, tapered caps, and drips. The layout consists of a two-room plan with a central cross-passage, and there is a two-storey lean-to at the right gable end, which is at a lower level. Additionally, there is an outshut with a slate roof at the rear upper end. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The windows on the upper floor are 20th-century two-light casements with six panes per light, except for the central first-floor window, which is from the 19th century and has ten panes per light. The ground floor features windows and a doorway with brick lintels, and the entrance includes a six-panelled door, with the upper two panels being glazed. The interior has not been inspected.
