Description
The vestry, located approximately 21 metres north of the Church of St Budock, dates from the early 19th century. It features painted rubble in the basement and slate-hanging above, with smaller slates over the stable front. The roof is a grouted scantle hipped slate design.
This building has a rectangular plan, with the vestry situated over a stable and traphouse basement, built into the churchyard. Access is provided by granite steps leading up to a box porch at the left-hand (west) end. The exterior is a single storey with a two-window south front, showcasing original small-paned hornless sashes with traceried heads. There is also an original 16-paned hornless sash at the middle of the right-hand end. The box porch, approached by a short flight of granite steps, features an original pair of 3-panel doors and an original 6-panel inner door. The rear includes a wide doorway for the trap on the left, a stable doorway on the right, and a reused fragment of 15th-century tracery serving as a ventilator, along with old ledged doors. The slate-hanging above remains unpierced.
Inside, the vestry retains its unaltered simple interior, which includes an original chimney-piece with roundels on the corner blocks.
