Description
There are five chest tombs located near the south-east corner of the Church of St Budock, dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. One tomb features an undecipherable limestone slab on a brick base, while the other four have slate lids on brick bases, and one has a granite lid on a brick base. All the tombs are rectangular in shape. The easternmost chest is dedicated to John Stephen, who died in 173- at the age of 76. The middle tomb belongs to Jane, the wife of Charles Bentley, who died in 1809 at the age of 25, and was made by Oliver and Sons. The tomb immediately south of the Bentley tomb is for Thomas Dunstan, who died in 1795 at the age of 44, along with others. The tomb immediately north of the Bentley tomb is for Benjamin Harvey, who died in 1763 at the age of 46. The final chest has an inscription that cannot be deciphered.
