Description
The churchyard walls, lychgate, gate piers, and railings surrounding the churchyard of the Church of St Budock date from around the 18th century, with elements from the early and later 19th century. They are constructed from granite and killas rubble, featuring granite dressings. The walls enclose the churchyard on all sides, with a wide gap in the east walls at the south end. There are gateways located to the west and north of the church, and a lychgate situated to the south. The walls likely have 18th-century shaped copings along part of the west side, while the rest features 19th-century copings or 20th-century cement coping. The lychgate, built in the late 19th century, has rubble walls and a grouted scantle slate roof with gable ends. It is square in plan and includes stone benches on either side. The south gable incorporates reused 16th-century tracery as a ventilator. The walls adjacent to the lychgate are lower and topped with 19th-century wrought-iron railings, which have turned finials on the stanchions and arrowhead finials on the bars.
