Description

This is a barn located approximately 15 meters south-south-west of Burnewhall Farmhouse, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from granite rubble with granite dressings, featuring much reused 17th-century chamfered masonry. The roof is made of corrugated asbestos and has granite coped gable ends. The barn has a rectangular plan with a central threshing floor and opposing first-floor loading and winnowing doorways. The exterior is two storeys high and nearly symmetrical, with a two-window east-south-east front that includes a doorway and a loading doorway above, centrally positioned among the windows. Most of the original openings incorporate some reused 17th-century chamfered masonry, and there is a roll moulding to the jambstone on the left of the left-hand window. The interior has not been inspected.
