Description
The barn located approximately 20 metres southeast of Burnewhall Old Farmhouse is a small structure, likely originally used as a store, possibly for apples. It dates from the 17th century and was partly rebuilt in the 19th century. The barn is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features a corrugated asbestos roof with gable ends.
The building has a small rectangular plan, with the rear end rebuilt in the 19th century. It stands two storeys high. The northwest gable end has a central 17th-century chamfered doorway with diagonal stops, and there is a similar loading doorway on the right side of the first floor. The barn has old ledged doors, and the left-hand wall includes small openings on the ground floor, one of which is chamfered, along with a central chamfered window opening on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
