Description
The former gazebo, which is now converted into a house, is located east of Belmont House and dates from the early 19th century. It is built of stucco on masonry and features stepped eaves leading to a tented asbestos slate hipped roof. At the center, there is an arcaded bellcote or belvedere adorned with trefoils and quatrefoils, which is topped with a segmental-arched balustrade that has a stepped handrail and corner pilasters. The roof is finished with a tented chinoiserie lead design and is topped by a dragon weather vane.
The building has a square plan and a five-bay pointed open arcade at the front, functioning as a loggia, supported by slender Tuscan columns with quatrefoils in the spandrels. The symmetrical front has four windows with pointed arches that are set back, and there is a central doorway featuring a panelled door. The windows are casement style with Y-traceried heads. The returns have three bays with four-centred blind arches. This structure is noted for its remarkably individual design in the Picturesque style. The interior has not been inspected.
