CRANTOCK Stocks in the churchyard about 3 metres north of north transept of Church of St Carantoc

GV II Stocks. Probably C17, set under C20 gabled roof on granite piers. The stocks are wooden, set in front of a carved wooden board, with a low relief carving of William Tinney, circa 1817, with a carved description of how he was the last man to be put in the stocks, and his escape The story was recorded in 1886 from a witness, Richard Chegwidden.
