Description
This is a disused cottage located 10 metres southeast of Higher Lank Farmhouse, dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. The building is constructed of stone rubble and features a rag slate roof with gable ends. It has stone rubble end stacks, including a projecting stack with set offs on the left side.
The cottage has a two-room and through passage plan, heated by the end stacks. The rear entrance has been blocked, and some internal partitions have been partly removed. It stands two storeys high and has a regular three-window front. The exterior includes 19th-century two-light casements on either side of a central plank door, as well as two 19th-century two-light casements in gabled half dormers, with one central gabled half dormer having its window removed.
Inside, the original fireplaces remain in place, although they are partly blocked, and the internal partitions have been removed.
