Description

This is a cottage dating from around the 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and cob, with a rag slate roof; the left end is hipped, while the right end has a gable. A brick end stack is situated on the left, and there was likely a projecting stone rubble lateral stack to the rear right, although the shaft has been removed.

The original plan consisted of two rooms and a through passage, with a larger room on the right, presumably originally heated by a rear lateral stack, and a slightly smaller room on the left, heated by an end stack. Around the 19th century, an outshot was added to the rear, likely to serve as a dairy. A porch was added to the rear in the 20th century.

The front of the cottage is asymmetrical, with a two-window facade. 20th-century casement windows now occupy the openings, but their sizes remain consistent with the original window sizes. The ground floor has two-light casements framing a 20th-century door located to the left of the centre. The first floor has a two-light and a one-light casement.

The interior of the cottage was not inspected.
