Description

The Cottage is a cottage, likely dating from the early 17th century with later alterations. It is constructed of painted limestone rubble with an old plain-tile roof, and features a brick internal stack to the left and an end stack to the right. The cottage is single-storied with an attic, and has a two-window range set at a right angle to the street. A C20 stable door opens to a wing at the rear left. The windows are casements, arranged irregularly. A raking dormer is located to the right of centre. Inside, the ground floor to the right includes a chamfered spine beam with ogee end stops and an open fireplace. Fragmentary remains of 18th-century decorative wall paintings are visible in the attic to the left.
