Description

Hicks Farmhouse is an early 17th-century house with 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble, with a plain-tile roof and a brick ridge stack in the centre. The house follows a hall house plan. It is single-storey and attic, with a two-window front. A 20th-century panelled door is located to the left of the centre, flanked by 20th-century bow windows with flat roofs. Three 20th-century hipped dormers are visible on the roof. The original hall occupies the centre of the ground floor, with a late 17th-century floor above. This upper floor features a chamfered spine beam with ogee end stops. The dining room to the left, likely a former cross-wing, also has a chamfered spine beam with ogee end stops. The centre of the house has a queen post roof with smoke-blackened beams.
