Description
This is a terrace of three houses located on the Esplanade in Fowey, built in the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of painted brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a steeply pitched roof covered in Delabole slate, featuring a crested red clay ridge tile and brick end stacks. The layout follows a shallow double-depth plan.
The front of the terrace presents a symmetrical nine-window facade, with each house featuring a three-window arrangement and a central doorway. A mid-floor string course runs along the front, and the windows are late 19th-century four-pane sash windows with horns, set within segmental arches. Number 43 (on the left) has an older panelled door with Gothic detailing; Number 45 has a 20th-century six-panel door, and Number 47 has a late 19th-century door with two tall panels, all with overlights, although the overlight on Number 43 is blind. Moulded hoods on consoles are positioned above the doorways of Numbers 43 and 47. The rear elevation includes tall round-arched stair windows with margin panes and canted bay windows to the ground floor. The interior of the houses has not been inspected. The terrace is attached to numbers 29-41 (odd) to the east. The buildings are included in the listing for their contribution to the group value of the area.
