Description
Nos 1 and 2 Market Jew Street are early 19th-century buildings constructed of stucco. They feature a parapet that is raised at the center and have a cornice. The buildings rise three storeys and each has five flat pilasters on the first and second floors. There are four sash windows on the upper floors, which do not have glazing bars. The ground floor of No 1 includes a 19th-century shop with a cornice and fascia, while No 2 has a modern shop front that includes a large fascia that is not in keeping with the original style. There is a passageway between the two buildings that is flanked by fluted columns. Nos 1 and 2 are part of a group with Nos 38 to 41 Market Place.
