Description

Davy Monument is a statue located in Penzance Market Place. It commemorates Sir Humphry Davy, who lived from 1778 to 1829. Davy was the President of the Royal Society, the founder of the Zoological Society, the inventor of the Miner's Lamp, and the first agricultural chemist. The statue is made of stone and is larger than life-size. It stands on a square plinth with a cornice, which is set on a rough granite base.
