GRAMPOUND FORE STREET (north side), Grampound SW 9248-9348 WITH CREED 7/30 Pen y Lan and house attached to - east

GV II

Pair of attached houses. Early-mid C19 with C20 alterations and additions. Slatestone rubble with granite quoins. Pen y lan has asbestos slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends; gable end stack to left with brick shaft and stack at the left side of the rear wing with brick shaft. The house attached to right has concrete tiled roof with ridge tiles and gable ends; gable end stack to left with brick shaft. Plan: Pair of attached houses, with Pen y Lan to left and house attached to right. Pen y Lan is of one-room plan, with entrance at the right side of the front, and room to left, heated from the gable end stack to left. There is a later C19 one-room plan rear wing, heated from a stack at the left side. The house attached to right is also of one-room plan, with the entrance at the right side of the front and the room to left, heated from a stack to left. Exterior: 2 storeys. Pen y lan has a 2-window asymmetrical front; ground floor has C19 16-pane sash and plank door. First floor has two C19 2-light 8-pane casements with L hinges. The house to right has an asymmetrical 2-window front; ground floor has 3-light 2-pane casement and C20 door, with timber lintels. First floor has two 2-light 2-pane casements; all windows are of early C20. The left end has C19 2-light 8-pane casement at ground and first floor to left. There is a straight joint in the masonry to the rear wing to left. At the rear, the house to right has a C20 2-storey addition to left with window at ground and first floor and door at the inner side. Interior: Not inspected.
