Description
This is a cottage from the 18th century located in St Michael Penkivel. It features slatestone gable ends and mostly cob front and back walls, topped with a corrugated asbestos roof that was likely originally thatched. There are brick chimneys on the gable ends. The cottage has a two-room layout and is two storeys high, with a slightly irregular three-window front. The nearly central doorway is flanked by a later 19th-century gabled porch that has an arched doorway. The old two-light casement windows, which have glazing bars, are currently boarded over. On the downhill gable end, there is a rubblestone lean-to with a door opening in the front wall. Inside, there is a recess in the rear wall at the west end, likely for the original staircase, and the ceilings are open beamed.
