Description
This is a barn located about 50 metres west of Luney Barton Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid 19th century, with some alterations and additions made in the later 19th century. It is constructed of elvan stone rubble with stone dressings and has a bitumenised slate roof featuring ridge tiles and a half-hipped design. The barn has an overall L-plan and was originally used as a threshing barn, powered by a waterwheel located some distance to the west.
The main range of the barn is two storeys high, with all openings featuring segmental arches made of dressed stone. The ground floor includes a doorway, while the upper level has tall ventilation slits and a row of square pigeon holes. There is a two-storey wing at the front right, which has similar door and window openings. Additionally, there is a long single-storey range in rubble attached to the front right. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in August 1897. Luney Barton Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
