Description

Ivy House is a late 18th-century house located on the south side of the A30 near Mitchell. It is constructed primarily of gritstone rubble with a slate roof. The house follows a ‘T’–shaped plan, featuring a central wide hall flanked by reception rooms. A rear wing, located off-centre, contains a rear entrance passage with a staircase and a kitchen. The two-storey elevation has a recessed central entrance with a six-panelled door, the upper two panels glazed, and a later, pitched canopy. Six-paned sash windows are set within segmental headed openings. The roof is hipped, and a brick stack is visible on the left gable. The interior's west side partition in the hall was removed to create a large kitchen-living space. A moulded overmantel is present on the gable stack.
