Description

Mitchell Farmhouse, now a guest house, dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed killas stone, with contrasting quoins and dressings, and has a graded stone slate roof. The plan is based around a central stair hall, flanked by reception rooms. A rear wing extends to the left, originally comprising two bays, then extended by a further two bays, each extension featuring a gable stack. Single-storey outbuildings, formerly a washhouse, are attached at right angles to the east face of the wing. A C20 glazed door is set within a pitched glazed porch. The windows are sixteen-paned replacement sashes within openings with slightly cambered stone arches. The roof is hipped, with brick stacks on the gable walls. The interior remains unseen.
