Description
This tombchest, dating from 1754, is located 4 metres south of the east end of the Church of St Werburgha. It commemorates Ann, the wife of John Tom, a yeoman who died in 1754, as well as John Tom himself, who passed away in 1765. The tombchest is made of stone rubble and features a rectangular slate lid. The lid is inscribed with both upper and lower case serif lettering and has an incised pattern around its edge. Although the slate lid is broken in two, it remains complete.
