Description
The tombchest of Joan Greenway, dated 1711, is located 6 metres south of the west end of the south aisle of the Church of St Julitta in Lanteglos-by-Camelford. This tombchest commemorates Joan, the wife of William Greenway, and her daughter. It is made of later rendered brick and features a slate lid. The chest has a marginal inscription with a verse in a central rectangular panel that reads: "Stay passers by and here behold How wee do ly inclosed in mould And hungry worms wee daily wast and so they shall by you at last But though our Bodys here do ly Our souls do dwell with God on high."
