Description

The tombchest of Christopher Hodgh, dating from 1680, is located 1 metre southeast of the corner of the south aisle and south porch of the Church of St Julitta in Lanteglos-by-Camelford. This tombchest is made of slatestone rubble and features a rectangular slate lid. It has a marginal inscription and an epitaph in a central rectangular panel, which is inscribed with upper case lettering. The inscription includes the text: "ROMANES THE VIIITH AND THE 19TH FOR THE EARNEST EXPECTATION OF THE CREATURE WAITETH FOR THE MEANEFESTATION OF THE SONS OF GOD BEING HIS FUNERALE TEXT CH."
