Description

The Talbot chest tomb, dated 1836, is located approximately 2 metres south of the chancel of the Church of All Saints in Holcombe Rogus. This chest tomb is made of grey-coloured limestone ashlar. It features a wide chamfered plinth, with the sides that splay outwards as they rise to a hollow-chamfered cornice beneath a lid that has a low-pitch ridge along the top. The corners of the chest sides are beaded. The lid is inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, commemorating the deaths of Hugh Talbot in 1836 and his son John in 1837.
