Description
The Regent Hotel is an early 19th-century building with a stuccoed front and granite ashlar to the rear. It is a large three-storey structure with four windows. The building features a parapet and cornice. The first and second floors have five flat pilasters, paired at the ends, with pebble-dash panels, and string courses. The ground floor exhibits horizontal rustication and a granite ashlar plinth. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, moulded architraves, and keyblocks on the ground floor. The central entrance has wide flat pilasters and an entablature surrounding double doors and a rectangular fanlight. Inside, there is an open staircase with twisted newels. A wide blocked doorway with an ornate Adam-style fanlight is located on the side elevation. The building forms a group with other listed buildings on the North East Side of Chapel Street.
