Description
PELYNT SX 25 NW 2/149 Pair of cottages 150m to north of - Little Larnick and garden wall to front II Pair of cottages. Probably mid to late C18 remodelled and range on right rebuilt in mid C19. Stone rubble. Left-hand cottage rendered. Right-hand cottage has asbestos slate roof with gabled ends and large stone rubble chimney stacks projecting at gabled ends. C19 stone rubble shafts with moulded strings. Cloam oven projection on right-hand gable end. Left-hand cottage has a rag slate roof at lower level with half-hipped left-hand end with catslide roof continuing down over the outshut to left end. Outshut has rendered rear lateral chimney stack. Remodelled to form 2 cottages. Cottage on right comprising 2 rooms with central cross passage and further small dairy to rear of left-hand with outshut added on left-hand middle to rear. 2 storeys, asymmetrical 4-window front. Mid C19 2-light ovolo-moulded mullion windows with C20 casements. The remodelled right-hand cottage has a symmetrical 2- window front with two 2-light casements beneath slate hoods flanking a C20 plank door in an open rendered porch with high gabled roof. Above two 2-light casements with brick dressings and timber lintels. To the left, the asymmetrical 1-window range comprises a C20 plank door within an open porch as on the right-hand range. 2-light casement to right beneath slate hood and 2-light window above, asymmetrically placed. The outshut has a further entrance on the ground floor beneath a C19 stone rubble lean-to porch. 2-light casement above with slate string. On the rear elevation is a straight joint between the remodelled range and that at the higher end. Also a straight joint between the higher range and the outshut. Both ranges have slight chamfered ceiling beams and C20 chimney piece in lower gable end. Interior not accessible. An internal inspection may further explain the plan of these cottages. Stone rubble garden wall to front.
