Description

No. 29 is a lodge built around the 1860s, likely designed by Henry Rice. It features slatestone rubble with freestone and granite dressings, topped with a dry Delabole slate roof in an L-shape, consisting of two levels. The higher section has a coped front gable supported by a stone arch-braced truss and exposed rafter ends, while the lower section is hipped and has a half-conical end linked to a gablet with an arch-braced wooden truss. The eaves have a cast-iron ogee gutter supported by brackets.

The building is designed in the Renaissance-Gothic style and has two storeys along with a single-storey wing. The west entrance front has a two-window range, with a two-storey projecting gable end on the left and a one-window single-storey wing on the right. There is a porch at the angle featuring a moulded round-headed doorway with a keyblock and panelled pilasters, along with nook shafts and a door that is set back inside. To the right of the porch, there is a single sidelight, while the windows include three-light designs and a first-floor Venetian window with a central keyblock above a flat-headed window with a moulded hood. The right side has a similar window but with a plain hoodmould, and a bowed window is located on the right-hand return. All windows feature hoodmoulds linked to strings, with mullions that have engaged shafts and sills supported on brackets. The interior has not been inspected.
