ST GORAN GORRAN CHURCHTOWN SW 94 SE 3/114 Retaining wall, steps and sundial - at the west end of the churchyard of Church of St Goran

Retaining wall, steps and sundial. C19. Slatestone rubble and granite. The retaining wall is about 10 metres long, about one metre high on the inner side, with chamfered granite coping. The wall turns a right angle to the steps; a flight of ten wide granite steps with a similar wall along the outer side. The wall at the inner side is swept round about 12 metres to north, diminishing in height with the slope of the ground. There is a chamfered granite pier about 1½ metres high, set into the wall, with a copper sundial with gnomon set on top, dated 1708.
