Description

The gateway and attached wall, located to the east of the Health Offices on Market Street in Launceston, date back to 1611, as indicated by the inscribed date in relief along with the words "NB BEGAN." The structure features a wall made of slatestone and granite rubble, with a wide dressed granite finish. The gateway itself has a chamfered and moulded design, presenting a 4-centred arch, topped with a shallow segmental brick arch.
