Gusti Vean Farmhouse With Attached Front Wall And Railings

Gusti Vean Farmhouse, along with its attached front wall and railings, is a farmhouse dating from the mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from slatestone and elvan rubble, featuring brick and stone dressings. The roof is covered with slate and has ridge tiles, hipped at the left end and gabled at the front right. The building has axial stacks and a stack at the left end with brick shafts, as well as a gable end stack to the right with a stone shaft.

The farmhouse has an overall L-plan layout. The left range consists of a two-room plan with a central entrance accessed through a porch. To the right, there is one room heated by a stack at the right end, and a front wing with a one-room plan, also heated from a gable end stack at the front.

The exterior features two storeys with an asymmetrical front. On the left, there is a three-window range, all fitted with 16-pane sashes beneath cambered brick arches, which are larger on the ground floor. The central porch has an outer half-glazed door with sidelights and a hipped roof. To the right, there are two bays with two 16-pane sashes on both the ground and first floors, also with cambered stone arches. The front wing on the right has a three-light casement on both floors to the right, a door to the left, and a two-light casement at the first floor to the left, all featuring cambered stone arches. The right gable end is blind, and the right side has a blind window at ground floor and a two-light casement at first floor, both with cambered stone arches. The left end is also blind. The rear wing to the left has a one-room plan, heated from a gable end stack.

Attached to the front of the three bays on the left is a low 19th-century stone rubble wall that encloses the front garden, topped with slate and stone coping and plain wooden railings. There is a central pair of square plan piers made of ashlar with flat slate tops, standing about 1.5 metres high. The interior has not been inspected.
