Description

Mendennick Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of slatestone rubble, featuring slate-hung front and rear elevations, and has a slate roof adorned with crestings and brick gable end stacks. The farmhouse has a two-room plan in the front range with a central entrance, and a one-room plan wing at the back of the left room, likely used for service; all rooms have gable end stacks.

The building is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. The central brick porch has a door with a hipped roof, flanked by paired 12-pane sash windows on both sides, and a 20th-century PVC replacement window on the right side of the first floor, along with a central blind window featuring a 16-pane sash that is painted in. To the right, there is a single-storey outhouse with a 2-pane light at the front, which includes a brick stack and drain hole, and a door leading to the rear.

On the right side of the farmhouse, there is a wide external stack with a round oven at its base, and limestone quoins. The left side has a 16-pane sash window at the ground floor, a 12-pane sash at the first floor, and a 4-pane attic light, also with limestone quoins. There is a two-storey rear wing on the left with a lower roof level, featuring a 20th-century PVC window at the first floor. The rear of the farmhouse includes a 12-pane sash window in an exposed box to the left, a 4-panelled fielded door that opposes the front door, and a similar sash window at the upper level to the right, which lights the stair, along with another sash window at the first floor to the left. The rear wing has a hipped roof at the junction with the main range and features a 20th-century three-light window at the ground floor on the inner side, as well as an oven projection at the base of the gable end stack. The interior has not been inspected.
