Description
The signal box, likely built around 1854, features slatestone rubble walls with granite quoins, jambstones, lintels, and a window sill. It has a corrugated asbestos roof with gable ends, although it originally had a slate roof and an old photograph shows it with a chimney. The building has a single-room plan and is a single storey. The north front, which overlooks the track, includes a doorway with a ledged door on the left and a three-light wooden mullioned window on the right. The interior has not been inspected. This signal box is part of The Chacewater Railway, which operated from 1824 to 1915, transporting mineral ore to Devoran from the mining areas, initially using horse-drawn transport until steam locomotives were introduced in 1854.
