Description
This is a lime kiln dating from the 18th century, which includes the remains of an attached cottage and a fish cellar. The structure is built from slatestone rubble and features a three-cell kiln. There are two access holes at the front and one on the right side. The foundation walls on the left are remnants of a former two-room cottage, which has a fish cellar located underneath it.
The front of the kiln has a round arched opening that is splayed inside, with kilns on both the right and left, each having a round arched access hole with a keystone on the left. The front walls of the kiln curve outward to the right and left. On the right side, there is a third kiln with a round arched access opening leading to a conical kiln. The walls of the kiln are battered and feature a slate string course. Attached to the left are the foundation walls of the cottage, which are at a lower level than the front, and there is a blocked opening with a timber lintel that leads to the former fish cellar.
