Description

Granary, dating from around the mid-19th century. It is a timber-framed structure with rag slate hanging, covered by a slate roof with hipped ends. The granary has a rectangular plan and is raised on four rows of three granite staddle stones, featuring tapered piers with rounded tops. Metal bolts reinforce the staddle stones and connect to the main frame. The west side features a centrally placed door with granite steps and metal sheeting. The north and south sides have two timber louvered ventilation openings, while the rear (east) side has two similar openings with adjustable louvers. Inside, the walls are lined with metal sheets and timber boarding, revealing timber uprights with slots for former horizontal dividing boards. The roof structure consists of three king post trusses with finely crafted mortised and notched joints.
