Landulph Methodist Church With Attached Sunday School, Front Wall And Railings

Landulph Methodist Church, built in 1874, features an attached Sunday School, front wall, and railings. The structure is made of Devon limestone rubble with stone and brick dressings, topped with a slate roof that has crested ridge tiles and gable ends with bargeboards.

The church has a single auditorium plan with the ritual east located at the rear. The entrance is through a tower on the front left, which is taller and has diagonal weathered buttresses. It features a pointed arched doorway with double doors and a hood mould, along with a pointed lancet window above. The left side of the tower includes a plate-glass sash window at ground level and a lancet window on the first floor, topped with a short slated spire.

The front gable end of the church has a large three-light window made up of three lancets, with the central light being taller and a hood mould above it. A circular datestone in the gable reads "Wesley Church 1874." The left and right sides of the auditorium each have two paired lancets and buttresses.

At the rear, the two-storey Sunday School has two plate-glass sash windows with triangular heads and brick surrounds, along with a door with an overlight to the right and three similar sash windows on the first floor. There is a single-storey projecting wing, likely a vestry, with paired plate-glass sashes. The right side of the Sunday School features two plate-glass sashes on the first floor and a single-storey lean-to at the far right.

The front wall, approximately 20 metres long, is constructed of Devon limestone rubble with granite coping and is divided into three stepped sections. It has 20th-century cast iron gates at each end and is topped with panels of cast iron railings that have trefoil finials. The interior has not been inspected.
