Description

Nos. 10 and 12 Church Street are two townhouses, which may have originally been one house, dating from the 18th century. The exterior features a rendered finish on what is likely rubble, topped by a steep asbestos slate roof with a hipped return on the left side, behind a parapet with a moulded cornice. There is a rendered stack on the left. The building has a U-shaped plan with rear wings at right angles and stands two storeys tall, presenting an overall three-window range.

On the left, there is a large 20th-century replica of an early 19th-century oriel window with small glazing bars, accompanied by a half-wheel wrought-iron fender. To the right, there is a 20th-century copy of a mid-19th-century canted oriel with glazing bars, featuring an original moulded entablature. The remaining windows are early 19th-century hornless sashes with glazing bars. The doorways, dating from the early 19th century, are located left and right of centre and are adorned with pilasters and a moulded entablature. The left-hand door (No. 10) has its top four panels later glazed, while the other doorway features panelled reveals and a top panel of the door glazed with one pane of glass. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
