Melrose House, Cottage Adjoining And Travellers Joy

Melrose House, the adjoining cottage, and Travellers Joy are three cottages dating from 1739, as indicated by a datestone attributed to Dorcas Pym. They feature a whitewashed rubble stone base with cob upper walls, which are partly rendered. The roof is made of asbestos slate, with a gabled end on the right and a hipped end on the left. There are brick stacks at the gable ends. The buildings are two storeys high and have a partly symmetrical layout with a six-window range.

Melrose House has a 19th-century panelled door flanked by two large six-pane sash windows, with three 16-pane sashes above that do not have horns. The centre cottage has a panelled door to the left, a 16-pane sash without horns on the ground floor, and a two-light horizontal sliding sash above. Travellers Joy features a 19th-century shop front that has been partly blocked, with 20th-century windows inserted. Above, there are two four-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
