Description
Lemarne is a pair of cottages, now used as one house, likely built in the 18th century and extended in the later 18th century. The structure is made of stone rubble with granite quoins and features painted corrugated iron across the front elevation. It has a steeply pitched slate roof with hipped ends and a gable end facing the front.
The overall plan is 'T' shaped, consisting of two one-room plan cottages with entrances on the left and right sides towards the rear, through an outshut extension that was probably added in the late 18th or early 19th century. The two main rooms share a central axial stack, which is made of stone rubble and has dressed strings. The central projection on the front contains two staircases.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front and a central gabled full-height stair projection. The two staircases share a central, likely 19th-century, two-light casement window. The cottage on the left has a 20th-century three-light casement on the ground floor and a late 19th or early 20th-century two-light casement above. The cottage on the right features circa 19th-century two-light casements on both the ground and first floors. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to be of similar design to Mill Cottage, Lower Mill Cottage, Postman's, and The Cottage in Trebartha village.
