Description

The tombchest and headstone are located 7 metres north of the north aisle of the Church of St Nonna in Altarnun. The tombchest commemorates John Lawers, who died in 1745, and his son John, who died in 1754. It is made of stone rubble and features a rectangular slate lid. The inscriptions are done in serif, italics, and script, with a marginal inscription. The central panel is decorated with an incised image of an angel blowing a trumpet, along with a verse below. This piece is signed by Christopher Clist.

Approximately 4 metres to the west is the headstone of Jane, the wife of John Stephens, dated 1786. This rectangular slate headstone is inscribed with upper and lower case lettering, also featuring serifs, along with a verse.
