ALTARNUN ALTARNUN Isbell Tomb in Churchyard of Church of St Nonna

GV II

Chest tomb. Early C19 (c1800). Stone tomb with straight slab top and reeded corners with plinth, surrounded by wrought-iron spearheaded railings with urn finials to corners. This tomb has historic interest within the development of Methodism in Cornwall as the grave of Digory Isbell, who died in 1795 aged 77 and who extended his house (Wesley's Cottage, Trewint) to provide a meeting room and chamber for overnight accommodation for Methodists.
