Description

Clapper Bridge is a public footbridge located over a stream on Camborne Mill Road, likely dating from the early 18th century or earlier. It is constructed of granite and features a clapper bridge design, consisting of three flat spans made from roughly-hewn stone planks that are paired and tied together with iron staples. These spans are supported by two substantial blocks set in the stream bed. On the south side of the bridge, there is a simple iron handrail that is held up by four very slender iron posts. This bridge is considered a rare survival.
