Description

The Church of St Agnes is a parish church located in St Agnes Churchtown. The tower dates from the 15th century, while the spire was rebuilt in 1905 and the rest of the church was constructed in 1848 by Piers St Aubyn. The tower is made of granite ashlar, and the rest of the church is built from killas rubble with granite dressings. The dressed granite broach spire is set behind an embattled parapet, and the roofs are covered with dry Delabole slate, featuring gable ends. There is a stone stack over the vestry.

The church's layout includes a 15th-century west tower, a 19th-century nave and chancel, and 19th-century north and south aisles. A south porch is linked to a covered passage and vestry that were added in 1909. The exterior features a two-stage embattled west tower with a spire, diagonally-set corner buttresses, a pointed west doorway, and a three-light traceried window above the doorway. The upper stage has two-light traceried windows with slate louvres, all with hoodmoulds over the openings. The 1848 sections of the church include windows and doorways in the Perpendicular style, with traceried granite windows and four-centred arched granite doorways, along with 19th-century ledged and braced doors and leaded glazing.

Inside, the church has plastered walls, 19th-century six-bay granite arcades, and arched collar rafter roof structures. There are also 19th-century and later fittings, including an octagonal marble font dated 1851. The church features memorial windows with coloured glass, including two windows at the east end, one in the north wall, and a west window in the south aisle.
