Description

No. 14 Broad Street is a town house dating to circa 1700, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. Originally a double-depth plan with a rear wing on the left, the front was rendered with stucco in the mid-19th century, applied to a timber-frame structure on the upper floors. The building features moulded and panelled end pilasters, moulded architraves (now altered to be round-headed for the first-floor windows), and a steeply pitched roof covered in Delabole slate, with projecting front eaves. The fenestration includes 4-pane sash windows with horns, paired on the front, in wide openings. Quatrefoils are positioned above the first-floor windows. A late-20th century shop front occupies the front, with a wide central doorway; the original house doorway is located on the right, with an overlight and a 20th-century panelled door. Inside, a first-floor room on the right retains original bolection-moulded panelling.
