Description
12 and 14 High Street is a town house with later shops, dating from the 18th century. The building features textured stucco on rubble at the first floor and studwork above. It has a steep rag slate roof with an old gabled slate-hung dormer on the right. The eaves cornice is heavily moulded and dentilled, and there is an old rendered stack on the right that has been heightened with brick. The building has a deep U-shaped plan, stands three storeys tall, and has a three-window range. The old tripartite hornless sashes do not have glazing bars, suggesting they may be original sashes with the glazing bars removed later. The ground floor has a full-width shop front from the late 20th century. The interior of the ground floor has been altered in the 20th century, and while it was not inspected, it is likely to be of interest.
