Description

The Trevail Monument is a memorial cross located in the churchyard about 5 metres south of the porch of the Church of St Ciricius and St Julitta in Luxulyan. Erected in 1903, it is made of granite and features a Celtic style cross that stands approximately 2 metres high. The cross is adorned with relief carved interlace decoration on panels along a tapered rectangular section shaft, topped with a Maltese wheelhead cross that also displays interlace carving. The monument is set on a battered plinth, which includes a granite moulded curb surrounding the grave enclosure. It commemorates Silvanus Trevail, an architect who lived from 1851 to 1903, as well as other family members.
