Description

Bodiggo is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from around 1700 with later 18th century alterations and some 20th century modifications. It is constructed of granite rubble and features a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The gable end stacks are made of brick on the left side and granite with a cornice on the right.

The building has a 2-room plan, with each room being of equal size; the kitchen is on the right and the parlour on the left. There is a central entrance leading to a passage, with each room heated by a gable end stack. At the rear, there is a later outshut that runs the full length of the house, which includes a straight stair to the centre accessed from the back, a dairy on the rear left, and a kitchen/scullery on the rear right. The dairy is unheated, while the scullery features an oven with a stack on the right side.

The house is two storeys high with an almost symmetrical three-window front. The first floor has three 2-light casements, each with 8 panes. The central stone gabled porch has a plain outer opening and a slate roof, leading to an early 18th century 2-panelled door with the original latch. To the left of the porch is a 2-light 3-pane casement, and to the right is a 3-light 3-pane casement. The right side of the house has a wide external stack with a straight joint to the outshut, and a wide oven with a pitched roof at the base of the stack. There is also a rendered stack for the scullery and a 20th century 2-pane light to the right.

At the rear, there is an off-centre stable door to the left, with a 2-light casement featuring a timber lintel and 6 panes in each light, and H hinges. To the right is a 2-light 20th century window.

Inside, the central passage has had the wall removed to the right, while the wall to the left features late 18th century fielded panelling. The parlour on the front left has panelled shutters at the window. The straight stair in the rear outshut has stick balusters, and the dairy retains one slate shelf.
