Description

Farmhouse. Dating from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and some 20th century changes. The farmhouse is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings. It has a slurried slate roof with gable ends, a granite gable end stack with a cornice on the right, and a brick gable end stack on the left. The original layout consisted of three rooms, with a 20th century porch leading directly into the room on the right, which has a gable end stack for heating. Two rooms are located to the left, with a gable end stack heating the end room and the central room appearing to be unheated. An outshut, likely from the 19th century, is attached to the rear of the room on the right.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with three windows. The ground floor features a four-pane sash window with a chamfered granite surround and remnants of stoolings for a mullion on the right. A 20th century porch with a corrugated asbestos roof is on the left, alongside a 20th century two-light casement window. The first floor has a two-light casement to the left and two early 20th century two-light casements to the right. The left side of the building steps back to the left of the flue, while the right side has a 9-pane 20th century window at ground floor and a wide external stack with a curved oven at its base. The outshut is single-storeyed and has a three-pane light. The rear of the outshut has a small two-light casement. The rear of the house includes a half-glazed door leading into the central room, accompanied by a 20th century window above. On the right side of the rear elevation are two 20th century ground floor windows and one first-floor window. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey in June 1986.
