Description
The Trevithick Memorial is a wall plaque located beside the road, opposite Nos. 33 and 35 on Tehidy Road in Camborne. Erected in 1919, it commemorates the site where Richard Trevithick assembled and began the first trial run of the first locomotive in 1801. The memorial features a bronze plaque set in a chamfered granite ashlar frame. It is landscape-format and approximately half a meter wide, displaying a relief image of the locomotive along with a raised inscription that reads:
"IN MEMORY OF

WAS ASSEMBLED BY HIM AND FROM WHERE IT
WAS STARTED ON ITS HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL RUN
TO BEACON HILL CHRISTMAS EVE 1801
