Description

This is a group of three town houses, originally built in the 18th century on a site with earlier foundations. The walls are of rubble construction with timber lintels, and the roof is covered in slate with a cast-iron ogee gutter. The building has a double-depth plan, featuring rear extensions. Originally a wider front was remodelled in the early to mid-19th century to create a four-window facade. The windows are hornless sash windows with glazing bars. Early to mid-19th century alterations reduced the width of the window openings, except for a blocked window on the first floor, third from the left. Number 18 on the left has a pair of doors between two windows, while numbers 16 and 18 have a similar arrangement of doors and windows to their left and right respectively. The doors are panelled, with the upper panels glazed, except for the right-hand door of number 18. The interior was not inspected, but when surveyed in 1980, it contained several original 18th century features, including two-panel doors.
