Description

69 West Street is an early 19th-century shop with living accommodation above, located in Penryn. The building is constructed of granite ashlar, with some rubble, and features slatehanging with three decorative fish-scale courses over the shop. The roof is covered in asbestos slates, with a hipped return on the left side, and includes a brick stack to the left and left of the rear wing. The building follows a double-depth plan and is two stories high, with a two-window front. It has 20th-century sixteen-pane horned sash windows. The ground floor has an early 19th-century shop front, now largely replicated with splayed window bays featuring small panes, moulded pilasters with corner blocks and roundels, and a shaped moulded entablature with fascia. The shop front includes granite ashlar stall risers, a central doorway with a four-panel door and patterned overlight, and a splayed corner on the left. The interior was not inspected.
